If you ask the principals of Mascia Development, LLC., a real estate investment firm, they’ll tell you they owe their success at growing their business during a downturn to the courses they took at New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate. “My master’s studies at NYU were the final step I needed in preparation of forming my own company,” says president and CEO Mark Mascia, who has run Mascia Development since 2006. “The training and network provided by NYU coupled perfectly with my previous experience.”

The NYU connection encompasses both key Masica employees and the company’s advisory board. Adam Loftin, a fellow Schack Institute graduate, now serves as development manager. Recent hire Heath Norman, a development associate, is pursuing his own master’s degree at NYU. On the Mascia advisory board, Jonathan Bazzano, who specializes in real estate finance and capital markets, is also an adjunct professor of real estate finance at the Schack Institute. Matthew Kasindorf, a partner in the law firm of Meister Seelig & Fein, LLP, is an adjunct associate professor at the institute.
